* Cooperative Funeral Fund, Inc. manages investments created specifically for the death care industry. Investments allowed for these accounts are state regulated and will generally produce lower returns than portfolios that invest in public securities. Most funeral homes in our system are invested in typically 100% US Treasury obligations and are “competitive” with other fixed income investment vehicles allowed by state laws for investment. For those states that allow prudent man investments, the returns our investments generate are generally competitive with an investment that carries a similar risk. If you are unfamiliar or unsure about returns and risk and investments allowed for death care plans in your state, please consult your financial advisor.
+ Cooperative Funeral Fund does not charge any additional fees for either a funeral home offering payment plans or the individual electing to utilize payments to fund their pre-paid funeral. Some competitors may charge for this service or for coupon books and insurance companies generally increase the cost of the premiums to cover the potential cost of the claim before all the premiums are made.
++ While CFF does charge an ongoing asset management fee for assets under management, unlike some state association programs that require a membership to utilize their programs (in addition to the ongoing management fee for the investments) CFF does not charge a “membership fee” or annual dues (separate from the asset under management calculation ) to be a client of CFF.
